Dayananda, once selected by Jaffna Peninsula CC as pick 58 in the draft, was transferred to the Glen Iris Greats for a decent $50,009 (after his first transfer was somehow a bargain of $500...) at age 22. At that time, he was given little time to grow before becoming the club's first XI keeper, with the other two options getting too old. Although this somewhat stunted his growth, Dayananda has remained strong and positive and has managed to scoop 4 fielding awards in 3 seasons. The talented young gloveman averages a catch a match and a batting average of 48 in ODs with the club, as well as a catch an innings in FC matches. All 8 of his MOM awards (as of 16/03/18) have been with the Greats and of those matches, we have won 7 and drawn 1, proving that, when Dayananda shines, he encourages the whole team from behind the stumps to get the win.
